Hastings Museum features the J.M. McDonald Planetarium, the hands-on Groundwater Discovery Adventure, and the Lied Super Screen Theatre. The museum has many species of animals set in their natural habitats including the world's largest display of Whooping cranes. The museum also chronicles the history of the early inhabitants of the Nebraska plains and how Edwin Perkins created the famous soft drink Kool-Aid.
