Minden Opera House

Built in 1891, located on the north side of the square in Minden, Nebraska, is a beautiful building that houses an art gallery, gift shop, multipurpose room, meeting room, kitchen facilities and the incredible Ruth Armstrong Theater. More than 400 contributors and volunteers brought the opera house renewal project to fruition in May 2000. The 2,000 square-foot theater ceiling mural depicts the history, seasons and sky of Kearney, Nebraska. As house lights come down, a starlit sky becomes prominent by the use of more than 2,500 fiber optic lights. The opera house hosts movies, live theater, concerts, dances, receptions, seminars, musicals and other performing arts and business organizational meetings.
